Mommy on the Edge

…this is what happens when you become a stay-at-home mom.

A Bit About Me April 4, 2008

Darcie @ 10:25 pm

I was born in 1979 under a rock mundanely named Conneautville.  It’s in northwest Pennsylvania and it means “snow place,” or so the legend goes, and they’re not kidding.  We saw about 23.25 days of sunshine per year.  Lived there for the better part of 23 years, with four years spent under another rock, this particular rock being slippery (for those who add 2 and 2 and get 5, that’s Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania).  I went to SRU there and graduated with a B.S. in English.  No, not teaching.  Professional writing.  Don’t ask, I don’t know, because I never managed to get a real career going in my “field.”  Theoretically, if I’d graduated college the same year I started, I’d have a good job somewhere in the Silicon Valley.  But since I graduated after the dot com boom, I was shit out of luck.  I worked as a receptionist for a few months, got fired, and got pregnant.

In other news, I’ve been married to my wonderful “man’s man” husband, Rob, since October 2002.  We’ve been out here in California, since May 2003.  We have two fantastic children, Beth & Robby.  I’m a Republican, I love America, and I think anyone who lives here and refuses to assimilate because they’re only here to profit from American capitalism needs to leave.  Now.  This country should be reserved for those who truly love it and want to be AMERICANS.

That aside, I’m just a regular woman trying to navigate my way through motherhood and life.  This blog chronicles my musings, rants, confusion, triumphs and tragedies.  Feel free to laugh at me and my stories, I certainly do.
